Jervis Bay II

On our way back up the coast from Eden, we stopped over in Booderee National Park on Jervis Bay for a few nights. We came to this beautiful spot for the first time last December, and we just had to come back.

Gorgeous white sand stretches all around the blue waters of the bay.

So many beaches to choose from! Where to next?

At low tide we were able to walk a good distance along the shoreline, hopping from beach to beach, enjoying the beautiful sandstone formations in between.

Cormorant tree.

An afternoon at Steamer's Beach...

...which was completely deserted...

...except for some dead Mutton birds...

...and quite a bit of plastic stuff that had washed ashore. Patrice spent quite a long time gathering up most of it. Even in the protected marine waters of a national park, the extent of ocean pollution becomes evident.

Our last stop on the itinerary was a historic light house situated within the Beecroft Weapons Range, on the north shore of Jervis Bay. Can you believe they actually offer camping?! Umm, no thanks.
